1954 Founding of EMW Betriebe Emmerling & Weyl GmbH & Co. Schaumstoff KG, based in Hahnstätten / Germany

1965 Initial use of filter foams as washable filter media
1972 Use of modern materials, e.g. synthetic and glass fibres, in air conditioning units
1977 Relocation of EMW headquarters to Diez / Lahn, commissioning of new production facility (approx. 1700 m²) and new offices (approx. 600 m²)
1981 Enlargement of production facility, now covering approx. 3200 m²
1984 Expansion of product range: start of Minipleat manufacturing, including special designs in plastic frames and housings
1992 Development of the first fully incinerable EMW filters and frame systems
1997 Certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001
1999 Construction and commissioning of new manufacturing and warehouse facilities, now covering a total of approx. 5100 m² area
2000

Enlargement of office facilities, now covering a total of approx. 900 m². Start of series production of Minipleat products, extension of production capacity, introduction of new manufacturing machine systems.

Entry into the fishkeeping/aquarium market; EMW Betriebe Emmerling & Weyl GmbH Schaumstoff KG is present as an exhibitor for the first time at the Interzoo trade fair in Nuremberg / Germany.

2001 Founding of subsidiary EMW Environmental Technologies Private Limited in Bangalore / India, and start of EMW-ALKA joint venture in Argentina
2002 Founding of subsidiary EMW ASIA, Singapore, expansion of the EMW sales network for the Asian market. Number of supplied countries is now 54. Change of name and legal form of the company to EMW filtertechnik GmbH.  Dipl. Betriebswirt (FH) Frank Drache,managing partner of EMW filtertechnik GmbH, receives Economic Award from the German state of Rhineland – Palatinate in recognition of particular achievements for the economy of the state
2003

Start-up of new pleating machine with new technology providing up to 300 mm pleating depth and increased pleating speed by a factor of 5

2004

Completion of new production facility with approx. 5.000 m² total area for increased production of minipleat products for  GT- and cleanroom applications. EMW celebrates its 50 year birthday with opening ceremony for the new production facility.

2005

Development of filtration media based on bioactivated foams (biofilm carriers)

2006

Kevin Drache becomes a partner of the corporation. The shares held by Frank Drache are passed on to Gerlinde Weyl-Drache and Kevin Drache.

2008

Market introduction of PORETaqua, a preactivated carrier material for use in biological wastewater treatment

2009

Introduction of the MPK 4X-32 GT for use as a HEPA filter for automotive applications
