The team at EMW would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

As the Diez region – the headquarters of EMW – is close to our heart, we have decided again this year to refrain from giving Christmas gifts, instead making donations to local charitable organizations.

This year we have chosen a few projects in this respect that we would like to present to you in greater detail:

The Albert Schweitzer Familienwerk Foundation was founded to help children, young people and their families who find themselves in difficult situations in life. Founded in Diez / Germany in 1995 as an independent charitable organization, it has already successfully implemented a considerable number of support projects.

Its most current project is the renovation of a building near Diez. The home should provide space for up to nine children who, for various reasons, have to leave their families for a short period of time or also in the longer term.

The Kinderschutzdienst Rhein-Lahn (Child Protection Services), an institution of Caritasverbandes Westerwald-Rhein-Lahn e. V. (local branch of the Caritas Association), looks after children and young people throughout the entire Rhein-Lahn district who have suffered from or been threatened with maltreatment, sexual abuse or neglect. Helping children who have been the victims of sexual abuse is of the utmost importance. In cases in which abuse has occurred or clarification is needed, parents, children, young people, preschools, schools etc. can contact Child Protection Services directly so that immediate help can be provided. However, it is also important to establish preventative measures to ensure that children become strong and are not abused in the first place. Raising public awareness is the best way of preventing incidents of this regrettable nature.

The funds raised will be used to expand these specific services so that as many primary schools as possible and, consequently, as many children in the area as possible can receive educational and awareness-raising materials for long-term prevention.
